Asian Games gold medalist Meggie Ochoa reflects on end of journey as nat'l team athlete
Asian Games gold medalist and Brazilian jiujitsu athlete Meggie Ochoa revealed she has played her last competition for the national team.
In an Instagram post last Thursday, Ochoa recalled on her journey since 2018 until the Jiu-jitsu International Federation World Championship in October last year, which was apparently her last competition.
"The Lord shifted my attention from self to Him and to others reminding me of our overall ethic in life for those who are in Christ to love God and love others above all. He allowed me to see the various ways of bringing glory to His name beyond medals and performance throughout the experience of the JJIF Worlds 2024," Ochoa wrote in the caption of her post.
"Little did I know that this competition would be my last one for the national team. It was difficult for me to post about it because I just had too many things to say. It’s a bittersweet ending that leads to an exciting and unpredictable new beginning, and my chief end remains the same no matter what chapter of my life I’ll be in," she added.
In a separate post, she thanked those who have supported her in her journey.
Ochoa won a gold medal in the Asiad in 2023. She also had gold medals in the 2019 and 2021 editions of the Southeast Asian Games and silver in the 2023 edition of the biennial meet.
