Team Liquid PH brings in ex-Falcon coach Ar Sy
Team Liquid Philippines bolstered its coaching staff after it signed Rodel “Ar Sy” Cruz ahead of its campaign in the Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6 APAC – Challenge Season next week.
Ar Sy, who was previously with Falcon Esports of Myanmar, is expected to provide support to head coach Archie "Tictac" Reyes in calling the shots for a new-look Cavalry.
"He's our assistant coach together with Archie for ESL," Team Liquid's manager told GMA News Online.
Ar Sy is a huge boost for Team Liquid, which was eyeing to recover from an early playoff exit during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 14.
Ar Sy helped steer Falcon Esports in ruling the Myanmar Qualifiers for the M6 World Championship. During the world tournament, meanwhile, they were able to defy the odds in the tough Swiss Stage and qualify to the knockout round.
They would then sweep NIP Flash of Singapore before falling to eventual champion Fnatic ONIC in the upper bracket semifinals before ultimately bowing out of contention after absorbing a 1-3 loss to Team Spirit in the lower bracket.
Ar Sy now brings his act to Team Liquid in the ESL, which will see the squad featuring a revamped roster.
Familiar faces in jungler Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno, exp laner Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya, mid laner Alston "Sanji" Pabico, and roamer Jaypee "Jaypee" Dela Cruz are still with the team, but the squad has signed a new gold laner in Masayuki "YukTzy" Fujita. YukTzy replaced longtime gold laner and M4 World Championship Finals MVP Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales.
Team Liquid opens its bid on Tuesday against Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi. Aside from Team Liquid, also joining the tournament are fellow Philippine teams Blacklist International, Aurora, Lazy Esports, EVOS Esports, and reigning world and MPL champions Fnatic ONIC.
