PH to field 20 athletes to 2025 Asian Winter Games

The Philippines will field 20 athletes to the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China this February.

According to the Philippine Olympic Committee, the country will compete in six of the 11 sports in the Harbin games.

The Curling Winter Sports Association of the Philippines or Curling Pilipinas will have 10 athletes for its team, with the whole delegation including its officers composed of Marc Angelo Pfister, Enrico Gabriel Pfister, Christian Patrick Haller, Alan Beat Frei, Jessica Pfister, Benjo Delarmente, Kathleen Dubberstein, Leilani Dubberstein, Sheila Mariano and Anne Marie Bonache.

Figure skaters from the Philippine Skating Union, including Paolo Borromeo, Sofia Frank, Cathryn Limketkai, and the pair of Isabella Gamez and newly-naturalized Aleksandr Korovin will also be sent to the Asian Winter Games. Peter Groseclose, meanwhile, will compete in short track speed skating.

The Philippine Ski and Snowboarding Association will send Francis Ceccarelli and Talullah Proulx for alpine skiing, Laetaz Amihan Rabe for freestyle skiing, and Adrian Tongco for snowboarding.

POC president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino said the Asian Winter Games will set the stage as the country hopes for its first Winter Olympics medal.

“We’ve already accomplished the dream in the Summer Olympics —three gold medals in consecutive games,” Tolentino said. “And that dream we want to also achieve in the Winter Olympics.”

Richard Lim is the chef de mission of Team Philippines. The Asian Winter Games will be held from February 7 to 14 in Harbin, China.
