Fnatic ONIC takes down Team Liquid ID to punch M6 finals ticket

PUTRAJAYA — Fnatic ONIC inched closer to securing the country's fifth world title in a row after cruising to the M6 World Championship grand finals with a 3-1 decision over Team Liquid Indonesia in the upper bracket finals on Wednesday.

Fnatic ONIC overcame a second game hiccup then just dominated the Indonesians the rest of the way to send Team Liquid ID to the lower bracket and punch the first finals ticket.

The reigning MPL Philippines champions were off to a hot start with jungler Cyric "K1NGKONG" Perez (Alpha) unleashing three of their 10 kills as they limited Team Liquid ID to none for a dominant Game 1 victory.

The MPL Indonesia champions, however, showed their poise come Game 2 with gold laner Aeronnshikii wreaking havoc on his Claude with four kills and seven assists.

A familiar takeover from gold laner Duane "Kelra" Pillas on his comfort pick Bruno was witnessed in Game 3, picking off two members from the opposing side while a perfect set from Borris "Brusko" Parro's Tigreal allowed K1NGKONG to take down Widy and secure the match point.

Fnatic ONIC just made sure to close the series out from that point with K1NGKONG slaying the lord which Team Liquid would be able to defend. Still, it wasn't enough against the Filipinos as Fnatic ONIC marched on to the finale against either the same team, Selangor Red Giants, or Team Spirit.

SRG and Team Spirit will square off on Saturday in the lower bracket semifinals with the winner facing off Team Liquid later on the same day for the rights to face Fnatic ONIC.
