Carlos Yulo's siblings Eldrew, Elaiza in Japan to train under coach Munehiro Kugimiya
Two of Carlos Yulo's younger siblings have started their serious bid to make it to the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 as the two young gymnasts recently flew to Japan to train under the same coach that honed their older brother.
Eldrew and Elaiza are part of Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya's training camp in Japan where they are expected to learn and improve their gymnastics skills. Their mother, Angelica Yulo, confirmed the development to GMA Integrated News.
"Yes [they are in a training camp in Japan]. [It's a] training camp but Coach Mune looked for sponsorship for the kids," Angelica said in a message.
Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion previously revealed their plans to include Eldrew in their 2028 LA lineup, possibly competing alongside Carlos in the latter's bid to defend his two gold medals in the Summer Games.
Eldrew has won multiple medals in national multi-sport events while Elaiza scored five gold medals during the recent Palarong Pambansa to make his serious bid in the sport.
Eldrew and Elaiza are being eyed to follow in the footsteps Yulo, who delivered a twin gold medal run during the Paris Olympics where the 24-year-old athlete copped a gold in the floor exercise and vault events.
