Fnatic ONIC Philippines completes dream run, captures MPL Season 14 title


Fnatic ONIC Philippines’ dream run ended with a trophy in its possession, cruising to a 4-3 victory over Aurora during the grand finals of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 14 on Sunday.

The Sonics overcame overcame a massive reverse sweep threat from Aurora to reign supreme in a season they have been dominating right from the start.

Fnatic ONIC will now be heading to the M6 World Championship in December in Malaysia with a huge momentum. Despite the loss, Aurora will also represent the country in the global event.

Already at championship point with a commanding 3-1 lead, Fnatic ONIC was on its way to sealing the victory after destroying all but one of Aurora’s turrets. They even secured the second lord behind a retribution play from jungler King “K1NGKONG” Perez at the 14th minute.

However, Aurora banked on gold laner Jan “Domeng” Delmundo, whose double kill allowed his squad to go for a midlane push and steal the victory from the top-seeded Fnatic Onic.

Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo’s Cecilion had a perfect 3/0/4 KDA to anchor the gutsy win and earn himself the MVP honors.

They staged a similar showing in Game 6 with Yue now masterfully using an Aurora pick while Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto’s Alpha gave them a huge lift with five kills and seven assists as they dragged Fnatic ONIC to a decider.

But seasoned gold laner Duane “Kelra” Pillas took charge in the winner-take-all Game 7, leading the way with his Beatrix on the way to the championship and his maiden MPL title while also bagging the Finals MVP honors.

With the championship victory, Fnatic ONIC has conpleted a near-perfect Season 14 run as it only dropped a single game against Smart Omega during the regular season.
