Fnatic ONIC PH punches M6 ticket, reaches MPL grand finals
Fnatic ONIC Philippines is headed to the world stage.
The Sonics did so after carving out a 3-1 victory over Falcons AP. Bren during the upper bracket finals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 14 on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel.
Fnatic ONIC clinched a ticket to both the M6 World Championship in December in Malaysia and the MPL grand finals set this Sunday.
Coming off a flawless 3-0 upper bracket semis victory over Aurora on Thursday night, Fnatic ONIC did not show any signs of fatigue by cruising to a commanding 2-0 lead behind exp laner Jann "Kirk" Gutierrez and King "K1NGKONG" Perez in the first two games.
However, Falcons AP. Bren fought to live another day.
Despite a lord steal by K1NGKONG (Suyuo) late in Game 3, Bren displayed mighty defense as gold laner Marco "Super Marco" Requitiano (Moskov) secured two crucial pickoffs on Brusko (Tigreal) and Kirk (Cici).
That eventually allowed the Falcons AP. Bren to go for a tower lock and extend the series. Super Marco's nine kills and five assists on zero deaths earned him the MVP honors.
Fnatic ONIC was quick to regroup come Game 4, finishing off the reigning world champions with a strong final push at the midlane after eliminating three players from the opposing side.
Fnatic ONIC now awaits its grand finals foe and fellow M6 representative, which could either be Falcons AP. Bren or Aurora as the two squads battle it out in the lower bracket finals on Saturday.
Aurora is fresh off a perfect 3-0 triumph over Blacklist International in their lower bracket semifinals duel with midlaner Kenneth "Yue" Tadeo shining in the crucial Game 3 with a 0/0/7 KDA on his Zhuxin.
