Fnatic ONIC sweeps Aurora, sets up UB finals vs. Falcons AP. Bren
Fnatic ONIC did not waste any time imposing its will on Aurora, cruising to a dominating 3-0 win in the upper bracket semifinals of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 14 on Thursday.
The Sonics moved a win away from booking a ticket to both the grand finals and the prestigious M6 World Championship as they sealed an upper bracket finals berth opposite reigning world titlist Falcons AP. Bren.
Onic, which nearly swept the elimination round with a 13-1 win-loss card, made quick work of Aurora in Game 1, eking out a lopsided 20-2 kill spread in just nine minutes and 32 seconds. This turned out to be the fastest game of the season so far.
And at the forefront of the rampage was roamer Borris "Brusko" Parro, whose perfect 2/0/16 KDA on his Gatotkaca earned him the MVP honors.
Brusko was left open with another Gatotkaca pick during the Game 2 draft phase, allowing the veteran roamer to continue wreaking havoc. His timely set-ups set the stage for a five-man wipeout in the 16th minute mark as they took a commanding 2-0 lead.
Onic never looked back from then on, finishing off Aurora behind a triple kill from Grant Duane "Kelra" Pillas (Harith) late in the game to formally complete the sweep and clinched an upper bracket finals berth.
In the first game, Falcons AP. Bren showed why it's one of the powerhouse MLBB teams in the world, overcoming a 1-2 series deficit before repelling Blacklist International with a 3-2 decision.
A lengthy lord dance in the 23rd minute of Game 4 made all the difference.
For four minutes, both teams battled for positions to secure the fourth lord, but Falcons AP. Bren displayed patience as jungler Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson (Suyuo) slayed the lord while also picking off three Blacklist players to drag the Codebreakers to a decider.
KyleTzy's late triple kill at the Blacklist's base in Game 5 put the nail in the coffin for Falcons AP.Bren.
Fnatic Onic and Falcons AP. Bren will battle it out for the grand finals seat on Friday at 3 p.m. while Aurora and Blacklist International will fight for their dear lives at 7 p.m. on the same day.
