Marcos hopes Sorsogon Sports Arena can help empower Pinoy athletes
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday expressed hope that the newly-inaugurated Sorsogon Sports Arena would help to empower Filipinos who are into sports as the facility will help them hone their skills.
''Ito po ay isang mahalagang hakbang upang maitaguyod natin ang ating mga kababayan na may angking galing sa larangan ng palakasan. Sa tulong nito, mabibigyan sila ng pagkakataon upang mahasa pa ang kanilang mga talento,'' Marcos said during the inauguration in Sorsogon City.
(This is an important step to empower our kababayans who have skills in sports. Through this facility, they can still enhance their talents.)
''Harinawa ay maidagdag pa natin sila sa hanay ng ating Olympian at atletang Pinoy,'' Marcos added.
(I hope we can add them to our roster of Olympians and Filipino athletes.)
Aside from sports events, the facility could also be used during summits, meetings, concerts, and other competitions.
The Sorsogon Sports Complex, which is composed of the Department of Education-Sorsogon building, DepEd gymnasium and the Sorsogon Sports Arena, started construction in 2018 under the leadership of then governor and now Senate President Francis "Chiz Escudero.
Patterned after Rome's Colosseum, the Sorsogon Sports Arena is part of the 7.1 hectare Sorsogon Sports Complex and is situated in Sorsogon City.
