Philippine Aquatics mourns passing of Olympian, coach Carlos Brosas

Philippine Aquatics, the national sports association for aquatic sports, mourned the passing of one of the country's Olympians and national coach Carlos "Pinky" Brosas.

He was 68 years old.

The organization announced Brosas' passing on Friday.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of National Coach and legend Carlos Singson Brosas OLY," Philippine Aquatics wrote in a social media post.

Brosas competed in the 1972 Olympics in Munich and coached the national team in the 1988, 2008, and 2012 editions of the Summer Games.

He was also a silver medalist in the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok for the 4x100m freestyle relay.

"Coach Pinky spent his life generously sharing from his wealth of experience and leaves a vacuum few can fill," the aquatics body said.

"While we mourn his death we give thanks for the legacy Coach Pinky leaves behind in Philippine sports."
