Young Filipina speed skater wins three golds in SEA Open

Filipino speed skater Keirsteine Layne Sac Fernandez won three gold medals in the Southeast Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy held over the weekend at SM Mall of Asia.

The 12-year old skater won gold in the 1000-meter, 777-meter, and 500-meter events.

"I feel very happy and proud of myself for being able to bring three gold medals," Fernandez said in an Unang Hirit segment on Tuesday.

According to the report, Fernandez fell in love with the sport while she was just checking it out while strolling.

After just two years, Fernandez is already an international medalist and hopes to play in the biggest stage of sports in the future.

"My only goal in speed skating is to represent the Philippines in the Olympics."
