Angel Otom advances to Paralympics women's 50m butterfly - S5 finals

Para swimmer Angel Otom will have another chance to claim a medal in the 2024 Paris Paralympics as she advanced to the final round of the women's 50m butterfly - S5 event.

Otom on Friday clocked 46.85 seconds to finish third in Heat 1 behind Paralympic record holder Lu Dong (40.50) and Sevilay Ozturk (44.70). The Filipino para swimmer eventually finished fifth overall after the two heats.

Only the eight fastest swimmers will advance to the finals.

This is Otom's second finals stint in the Paris Para Games as she also advanced to the finals of the women's 50m backstroke where she finished sixth.

The event's final round will be held on Friday night.
