Angel Otom advances to women's 50m backstroke - S5 finals in Paralympics


Para swimmer Angel Otom is advancing to the medal round of the women's 50m backstroke-S5 event in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. 

Otom clocked 44.03 seconds to finish fourth in Heat 1 and seventh overall in the preliminary round of the event on Tuesday at the Paris La Defense Arena. Only the eight fastest among the 16 competitors will advance to the finals.

China's Lu Dong (39.48), who holds the world and Paralympic record, He Shenggao (41.31), and Liu Yu (42.59) grabbed the top three spots of the event.

The finals will be held on Wednesday past midnight.
