Jerrold Mangliwan eyes redemption in Paralympics

Three years ago in Tokyo, wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan had a DQ finish in the men's 400m T52 final as he switched lanes at the homestretch of the contest.

Now in Paris, as Mangliwan starts his campaign in the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the heats of the said race on Friday, his coach Bernard Buen said the wheelchair racer hopes not to repeat the same mistake, especially now that he is on his para athlete's side.

Buen was not by Mangliwan's side in Tokyo three years ago as he was quarantined due to COVID-19.

"Given Mangliwan’s experience three years ago, alam na niya ang dapat gawin to prevent the same mistake from happening,” Buen said in the Philippine Sports Commission's (PSC) release.

“If Mangliwan keeps his presence of mind and follows our game plan to the letter, malaki ang pag-asa ni Jerrold manalo,” he added.

Prior to this, para archer Agustina Bantiloc will continue her campaign in the women's individual compound open after finishing 28th in the ranking round.
