Representing PH does not end in Olympics for hurdlers Tolentino and Hoffman, swimmer Sanchez

For hurdlers John Cabang Tolentino and Lauren Hoffman and swimmer Kayla Sanchez, representing the Philippines does not end in the Olympics.

The three Filipino athletes based in other countries said they plan to compete in other international competitions soon.

Spain-based Tolentino, who competed in the 110m hurdles in the 2024 Paris Olympics, said he intends to join the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in November if he has already recovered from his injury.

"Maybe I can go there but now I'm trying to rest because I'm injured and I want to get healthy as soon as possible," Tolentino said on the sidelines of the Olympians' victory party on Tuesday, adding that his recovery may only take around three weeks.

Filipino-American Hoffman, meanwhile, also hopes to join the said event, but if not, she may also compete in other tournaments.

"I might not be ready to go by then, I have to deal with some health things first. We'll see," Hoffman said.

"If I'm not ready to go by then, I'll just wait [for] the indoor meets by December."

For Canada-based Sanchez, she plans to compete in the Southeast Asian Games in 2025.

"Freestyle, backstroke, and medley. Lots of events, so many opportunities for medals and it will be my first SEA Games representing the Philippines and I'm so excited."

Hoffman (400m hurdles) and Tolentino (110m hurdles) were relegated to the repechage of the Olympics, with the former finishing 7th in her group, while the latter was a DNS (Did Not Start) due to an injury.

Sanchez, on the other hand, reached the semis of the women's 100m freestyle and placed 15th overall.
