Carlos Yulo’s victory serves as inspiration to young gymnasts

Carlos Yulo’s victory in the 2024 Paris Olympics served as inspiration to young gymnasts.

Yulo won two gold medals in the Summer Games, one from floor exercise and one from the vault finals.

“It’s very historical for bringing home two gold medals for the Philippines and Im inspired by him,” young gymnast Janna Santiano said in Mariz Umali’s 24 Oras report on Friday.

“Carlos Yulo encouraged me to focus more and not to always play,” echoed Jayden Chua.

Meanwhile, Yulo’s friends and teammates also became more motivated because of the Filipino gymnast’s achievement.

“Nakikita ko po ‘yung sarili ko sa kanya na if kaya niya, kaya ko rin gawin, kaya rin ng ibang teammates ko,” gymnast Juancho Miguel Besana said.

With Yulo's two gold medals, he also became the first Filipino athlete to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Summer Games.

On Thursday, Yulo met with the country's first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and the weightlifter said she is proud of Yulo's achievements.

Yulo, along with other Olympians, will be welcomed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. in their homecoming on Tuesday.
