Philippines tied for 23rd with two golds and two bronzes in latest Paris Olympics medal tally
After securing a fourth medal with boxer Nesthy Petecio’s bronze medal finish on Wednesday, the Philippines ranked No. 23 in the updated 2024 Paris Olympics medal table.
The Philippines, which has two gold medals and two bronzes, is tied with Hong Kong, China just behind No. 22 Belgium, which has two golds and three bronzes.
Carlos Yulo delivered the first two medals for the country over the weekend, both of them gold. He ruled both the men’s floor exercise event and the men’s vault of the gymnastics competition in Paris.
Aira Villegas followed that up with a bronze after finishing in the semifinals of women’s 50 kg division on Tuesday before Petecio added another one after closing her campaign in the women’s 57 kg also in the semis against 20-year-old Julia Szeremeta of Poland.
The United States of America leads the table with 27 gold medals along with 35 silvers and 32 bronzes. China, Australia, host France, and Great Britain round out the top five.
