EJ Obiena to receive P500K incentive from Manila LGU

The City of Manila said it will hand EJ Obiena an incentive of P500,000.

The reward came a day after Obiena finished fourth in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In a social media post, Manila City mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna said this is to recognize the talent of Obiena who hails from Tondo.

"Ang Lungsod ng Maynila ay saludo sa iyo, EJ! Maraming salamat sa pagmamahal na iyong ibinibigay sa bansa. Mabuhay ka, EJ," the caption of the post said.

Obiena earlier said he has yet to decide on his return for the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. He also apologized for his fourth-place finish.

The City of Manila also previously said it will hold a hero's welcome for Carlos Yulo who won two gold medals in the Summer Games.
