Joanie Delgaco winds up 5th in semifinal C/D in Paris Olympics
Already out of medal picture, Joanie Delgaco finished fifth in the first classification round of the women's single sculls in the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
The Filipina rower clocked eight minutes and 0.18 seconds in the semifinals C/D and was relegated to final D, where she could finish as high as 19th in the final rankings or as low as 24th.
The 26-year-old Delgaco registered her worst finish so far in the Summer Games following her races in the heats, repechage, and quarterfinals, all of which saw her clocking less than seven minutes and 58 seconds.
Serbia sculler Jovana Arsic topped semis C/D after clocking 7:44.60 while Nina Kostanjsek of Slovenia and Beatriz Cunha registered 7:48.86 and 7:49.96 to enter the final C, where six athletes will fight for placing from 13th to 18th spots. Only the top three racers would advance to final C while the rest will be relegated.
