Kayla Sanchez ends Paris Olympics campaign
Swimmer Kayla Sanchez ended her campaign on early Wednesday (Philippine time) in the 2024 Paris Olympics as she failed to advance in the women's 100m freestyle finals.
Sanchez finished seventh in her group and 15th overall in the semifinals as she clocked 54.21 seconds.
The Filipino-Canadian swimmer booked a slot in the semis as she finished 10th overall during the heats on Tuesday.
Sanchez previously represented Canada and even won an Olympic medal during the Summer Games in Tokyo three years ago. She was part of the team that won silver in the 4x100m freestyle and the 4x100m medley. Her move to switch federations was approved in 2023.
Jarod Hatch, who will compete in the men's 100m butterfly, will open his campaign on August 2.
