Jessica Soho pays tribute to Chino Trinidad: 'For all your hard work, love, and passion for Philippine sports'

Jessica Soho took to social media on Sunday to honor the late sports journalist Chino Trinidad.

On Instagram, Soho posted throwback photos from their interviews and collaborations in media through the years.

 

 

 

"For that indelible interview you gave me for KAMAO, my 'I-Witness' documentary on ring deaths to our lively Q and A banters on my news program 'State of the Nation with Jessica Soho,' and for all your hard work, love, and passion for Philippine sports," the Kapuso journalist wrote.

“I will miss you Chino, maraming salamat,” she added. “Paalam.”

Chino died last Saturday due to a heart attack.

He previously worked with GMA Sports as a commentator and sports analyst. He was a former host of the "Time Out" segment on "24 Oras" and "Saksi sa Dobol B" on Super Radyo dzBB.

He also served as former commissioner of the defunct Philippine Basketball League.

Aside from Soho, other sports personalities and celebrities paid tribute to Trinidad, including GMA Integrated News pillar Arnold Clavio, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner Ramon Fernandez, former PSC chairman Noli Eala, and sports icon and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.

Basketball leagues PBA and MPBL also remembered the late sports journalist for the efforts he made for the said leagues.

Meanwhile, Trinidad’s former media colleagues Connie Sison and Mav Gonzales also took the time to honor him by sharing heartfelt stories of their encounters.

In 2019, Chino Trinidad was honored with a special award for Meritorious Conduct at the Dangal ng Maharlika Awards, a testament to his respect and recognition in the industry.

In 2015, Chino Trinidad's influence and impact in sports journalism were recognized when he was named "Natatanging Host Pangpalakasan" at the 1st MITv Gawad Kamalayan by the Mapua Institute of Technology. —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA Integrated News
