Upset in Riyadh: Malaysia’s Selangor Red Giants shock Falcons AP. Bren to rule MSC 2024
It’s Malaysia’s time now.
This after the Selangor Red Giants slayed the Philippines’ Falcons AP.Bren, 4-3, to capture the country’s highest finish and rule the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid-Season Cup on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
SRG, which ruled the MPL Malaysia Season 13, is bannered by Filipino head coach `Michael "Arcadia" Bocado alongside two Pinoy imports in John Vincent "Innocent" Banal and Mark "Kramm" Rusiana.
With the loss, an MSC title remained elusive for Falcons AP.Bren which has already reigned supreme in two M-series world championships and two MPL Philippines titles.
SRG reached the match point first after taking a crucial victory in Game 5 for a 3-2 lead, but the Filipinos showed their championship pedigree in the following game to drag the Malaysian champions to a do-or-die Game 7.
The Selangor Red Giants made sure to be aggressive right away, cruising to an early 4-1 kill lead with midlaner Hazziq "Stormie" Rizwan unleashing one kill and dishing out three assists to fuel the early game rampage on his Valentina.
Jungler Sekysss then secured the first lord for the Red Giants, but the Philippine bets displayed a massive defensive scheme to extend their lives.
A final team clash in the 17th minute, though, spelled the difference for Selangor as they enforced a wipeout with all Falcons AP. Bren players getting slayed. Selangor didn't even need to get the lord as they marched on at the bottom lane all the way to the base to seal the championship.
Selangor has also extended its winning streak to 107 days, not dropping any series since their unbeaten run in the MPL Malaysia.
