Manny Pacquiao on Chino Trinidad: 'True patriot who loved Philippine sports'

Sports icon and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is among those who paid tribute to veteran sports journalist Chino Trinidad.

Trinidad passed away on Saturday.

In a social media post on Sunday, Pacquiao said he was 'deeply saddened' by the passing of his 'friend.'

"Deeply saddened by the loss of my friend, Chino Trinidad," Pacquiao wrote on the caption of his post.

"Chino was more than a great journalist; he was a true patriot who loved Philippine sports with all his heart. His honesty and dedication inspired many. Thank you, Chino, for everything."

Trinidad's fellow sports personalities and former GMA colleagues also remembered his legacy. 

Sports leagues PBA and MPBL also recognized the efforts made by Trinidad.

Trinidad passed away at the age of 56 due to heart attack.
