LGD Gaming pulls off reverse sweep vs. Team Secret to rule Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2
KUALA LUMPUR—Malaysia’s LGD Gaming rose from the dead to stun compatriot Team Secret, 3-2, and reign supreme in the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur.
LGD Gaming, which ruled the Malaysia qualifier by defeating the same team, crawled back from 0-2 deficit and won the next three games to seize the title. Those two losses were their only defeats.
“When we won the third game, we already knew the result. Maybe in the first two games they were not in the mood yet,” said LGD Gaming head coach Joker in the post-game interview.
“But after that game, everyone has came back. They were so excited and they already knew we can get the championship.”
Jungler Chan Tat “MusangKing” Yann was hailed the Finals MVP for his crucial performances in Game 4 as he had a clean 4/0/5 KDA using Yuhuan, helping the squad drag Team Secret to a winner-take-all Game 5.
With the win, LGD Gaming will take home $100,000 before heading to the Esports World Cup alongside the seven other top teams in the Invitationals.
LGD Gaming will use this momentum in their impending campaign at the highly-sought Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where the top eight teams in the Invitationals will also see action.
“We want to get the championship as well in the Esports World Cup. At least, we bring the momentum but we don’t know yet the schedule,” coach Joker added.
