Falcons AP.Bren completes Game 2 comeback vs. XYG to kick off MSC bid
Falcons AP.Bren already had its eyes on Xianyou Gaming days before the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid-Season Cup (MSC) 2024.
True enough, the Chinese squad proved its caliber in their first meeting on Wednesday, but the Philippine bet still came out on top with a 2-0 victory.
The Filipinos did so by completing a Game 2 comeback, overcoming an early deficit to sweep the best-of-two game and take 1-0 lead in Group D.
Staring at a 0-3 disadvantage, Falcons AP.Bren were able to catch up on XYG after a double pick off from jungler Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson (Roger) in Game 2, but the opponent showed its persistence and even built a 16-9 kill lead.
A team clash at the 19th minute mark saw three XYG players down, setting the stage for a base push for the Filipinos, who eventually unleashed a wipeout en route to a tower lock and the win.
Gold laner Marco "Super Marco" Requitiano led the reigning world and world champion with a near-perfect KDA line of two kills and nine assists against one death.
The win should serve as a good start for the team's chase for the elusive MSC title, which is the only missing piece in their trophy collection.
"We were surprised by their game play in the second game. I think in the first game, they were quite nervous and in the second game, you can see that they became brave," team captain and veteran midlaner Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel said.
"We are excited because MSC is the remaining title that we haven't won yet and the prize pool is big also."
Falcons AP.Bren will have a three-day break before engaging in two grueling matches on July 7 against Cloud9 of USA and Falcon Esports of Myanmar.
