John Cabang Tolentino, Lauren Hoffman qualify for Paris Olympics


John Cabang Tolentino and Lauren Hoffman will join the list of Philippine athletes heading to the Paris Olympics later this month.

The Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association announced Tolentino and Hoffman's qualification for the Summer Games on Tuesday.

The 22-year old Cabang Tolentino qualified for the 110m hurdles event. He currently holds the national record for the said event at 13.37 seconds. 

Cabang Tolentino also bagged the bronze in the 60m hurdles event of the hurdles event in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships.

Hoffman, meanwhile, qualified for the 400m hurdles event.

According to the PSC, the 25-year old Hoffman holds the national record for the said event with 55.72 seconds. 

Cabang Tolentino and Hoffman join pole vaulter EJ Obiena in the Philippine delegation for athletics.

As of writing, the country has 22 athletes heading to the Summer Games which will open on July 26.
