Denice Zamboanga remains a contender with win over Grandjean at ONE 167

Filipina mixed martial arts contender Denice Zamboanga scored a clear-cut unanimous decision over late replacement foe Noelle Grandjean on the undercard of ONE 167 on Saturday at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Zamboanga, 27, was originally slated to face the ONE women's atomweight world champion Stamp Fairtex but the latter had to withdraw after she suffered an injury in training.

Against Grandjean, Zamboanga showcased her dominance on the feet, giving her foe a swollen right eye in the early going before going to the mat where she attempted a rear-naked choke before the opening round ended.

Zamboanga cruised through the next couple of rounds en route to a unanimous decision nod after three five-minute rounds of action. She improved her MMA record to 11-2.
