Yuka Saso remains grateful for support from the Philippines

Two-time US Women's Open champion Yuka Saso said she is still grateful for the support she has been receiving from the Philippines.

Saso chose to be a Japanese citizen back in 2021 and previously said she will always be proud of her dual heritage.

She recently won her second US Women's Open title, but unlike her first win where she represented the Philippines, she is now donning Japan's colors.

"[I'm] thankful for my family back in the Philippines and my sponsors who have been supporting me through ups and downs and all the trust they have given me," Saso said in Jun Veneracion's 24 Oras report on Friday.

"That will never change. I loved growing up in the Philippines and I always go back there," Saso said about being half-Filipino.

"If I could put two flags beside my name, I would."

Now, Saso is preparing for another possible Olympic stint in Paris.

She represented the Philippines in golf back in the Tokyo Olympics.

As a Philippine athlete, Saso also had two gold medals from the 2018 Asian Games.
