Malabuyo wins gold, Ruivivar claims bronze in Asian Championships

Paris-bound gymnasts Emma Malabuyo and Levi Ruivivar copped medals in the 2024 Asian Gymnastics Union Senior Women's Asian Championships on Sunday in Uzbekistan.

Malabuyo won the gold medal in floor exercise as she scored 13.300 to rule the said event, while China's Xinyi Chen (13.133) and Aida Bauyrzhanova of Kazakhstan (13.066) finished third and fourth, respectively.

This is her second medal in the competition as she placed third in the individual all-around event which also booked her a slot to the Paris Olympics.

Levi Ruivivar, meanwhile, bagged the bronze in uneven bars as she scored 13.100 behind China's Yang Fanyuwei with 14.566 and Jon Jang Mi of North Korea with 13.366.

In the men's division, Carlos Yulo won four gold medals in the tournament last week. His brother Karl Eldrew Yulo also won gold in the juniors division.
