Alex Eala climbs to career-high no. 162 in WTA rankings

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala climbed to a new career-high in the latest Women's Tennis Association rankings released on May 6.

Eala is currently at no. 162 in her singles ranking, eight spots higher than her previous rank at no. 170 last April 22.

The rankings came after she competed in the Mutua Madrid Open where she pulled off an upset against WTA no. 41 Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine in the tournament's first round.

She then fell short against no. 30 Sorana Cirstea in the Round of 64.

In doubles, Eala also rose to career-high no. 239 after ranking at no. 243 weeks ago.
