Para swimmers Ernie Gawilan, Angel Otom secure slots for Paris Paralympics
Para swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Atom have secured slots for the 2024 Paris Paralympics, according to the Philippine Sports Commission.
Both para athletes have clinched slots through the Minimum Qualifying Standard, with Gawilan being top 6 in the 400m freestyle and top 8 in the 200m individual medley at the worlds, and Otom being top 6 in the 400m freestyle and top 8 in the 200m individual medley at the worlds as well.

Gawilan has previously competed in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio and 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. He has also won gold medals in the 2018 and 2022 editions of the Asian Para Games and in the ASEAN Para Games in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2022.
Otom, meanwhile, bagged four gold medals in the 2023 edition of the ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.
