Peter Groseclose makes early exit in 1500m short track speed skating
Philippine representative Peter Groseclose made an early exit in the men's 1500m event of short track speed skating in the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics.
Groseclose failed to advance after finishing fifth in Quarter Final 6 of the event as he clocked in 2:20.575 minutes.
John-Henry Krueger, Groseclose's coach, said the race itself was difficult.
"It was a difficult first race and was one of the fastest races for the day,” said Krueger.
“Peter was aggressive in his passing but some of the bumps and normal stuff that goes on in the short track, I think it didn’t go through his way until the end.”
Joo Jaehee (2:21.906) and Kim Yousung (2:22.148) of South Korea finished first and third respectively in the finals, while China's Zhang Xinzhe placed second with 2:22.095.
A total of 34 athletes competed in the event.
Groseclose will still compete in the 1000m on Sunday and 500m race on Monday.
