Skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe named Philippines' flag bearer for Winter Youth Olympics
Skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe has been named as the Philippines' flag bearer in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics at the Gangneung Oval and PyeongChang Dome in South Korea.
Laetaz Amihan is one of the three Filipino athletes who will compete in the Winter Youth games alongside speed skater Peter Groseclose and fellow skier Avery Balbanida.
Her father Ric said the 14-year old athlete was astounded with the given duty.
“Her initial reaction when I passed the message that she’s the flag-bearer were her super big eyes, her jaw dropping,” said Ric. “She’s astounded and she asked how to wave best.”
The Switzerland-based athlete will compete in the women's slope style skiing on Wednesday and big air skiing on January 28.
