Denice Zamboanga battles Stamp Fairtex for ONE world title
Filipina mixed martial artist Denice Zamboanga will finally get a crack at a world title when she takes on Stamp Fairtex for the ONE women's atomweight title at ONE 166 on March at Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
Zamboanga, 10-2 as a prizefighter, used to train with Stamp at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand. The pair has forged a strong relationship throughout the years but it will be all business for the Filipina come fight night.
"I feel like I was prepared for this moment. I feel like this is God's will, that there was a purpose for my world title shot getting delayed. This time it is mine," Zamboanga said.
Zamboanga has been one of the top fighters in her division for quite a while. Previously an unbeaten contender, Zamboanga's world title shot had hit a roadblock when she suffered back-to-back defeats against Ham Seo Hee.
Stamp Fairtex, meanwhile, defeated Ham via stoppage last September to claim the vacant ONE women's atomweight world title. Holding a record of 11-2, Stamp is a world champion across three combat sports; MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing.
