Stephen Loman parts ways with Team Lakay

Former Brave CF bantamweight champion and no.2 rated ONE bantamweight mixed martial artist Stephen Loman has parted ways with Team Lakay.

Loman, 17-3 as a professional fighter, is coming off a unanimous decision loss at the hands of John Lineker last September in what turned out to be his lone cage appearance in 2023.

"I had a heart-to-heart conversation with coach Mark and during our said meeting, I personally thank him for all the help that he extended me to become a better fighter, and because of his guidance, I am where I am today," Loman wrote in a Facebook post.

"Moreover, I conveyed to him my desire to leave the team and after some discussions, he acceded and peacefully granted my request to leave the team, and actually, he even bade me good luck to my future endeavor."

Last year, former world champions Eduard Folayang, Kevin Belingon, Joshua Pacio, and Honorio Banario left Team Lakay to form their own team Lions Nation MMA. Danny Kingad, Jeremy Pacatiw, Edward Kelly, and Jenny Olsim also left shortly after.

Though not with Team Lakay anymore, the 28-year-old Loman asked his supporters for their continued support moving forward.

"My departure with Team Lakay is not the end of my MMA career but is just another chapter. [I will] continue to fight under the ONE Championship promotion which has been very supportive of me since day one that I competed in such promotion," Loman said.

"To all of you guys, I hope you will continue supporting me as I continue to train and develop my skills while waiting again for a call from ONE Championship for me to fight inside the circle."
