AP Bren conquers Onic Esports, seizes M5 crown

AP Bren wins M5 world championship

Philippine bet AP Bren sent Onic Esports crashing back to earth, 4-3, to reign supreme in the M5 World Championship on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Playing on home soil, the Filipinos didn’t disappoint as they continued the country’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang dominance and delivered the Philippines’ fourth straight world title.

Holding a comfortable 3-1 lead, Bren had to figure in a grueling Game 5 as Onic Esports refused to surrender with Filipino import Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (Baxia) securing the fourth lord steal in the 26th minute. After much comeback attempts from Bren, Onic made sure to finish this one off to extend its life.

Bren could not capitalize on its early series upper hand as Onic pulled off a Game 6 win to drag the reigning MPL Philippines champions to a decider.

However, Bren regained composure come the winner-take-all Game 7 to complete the magical run.

This is Bren’s second world title as they also ruled M2 in 2021. After them, Blacklist International and Echo took turns in ruling M3 and M4 in dominant fashions.

The win was also a sweet revenge for Bren as they avenged their upper bracket finals loss to Onic, which saw them absorb a sweep loss.
