AP Bren sweeps Lilgun, carries rival Burmese Ghouls to M5 playoffs

AP Bren Lilgun M5 World Championship

AP Bren showed no mercy and blanked Team Lilgun of Mongolia, 2-0, to conclude its group stage campaign in the M5 World Championship on Thursday at the EVM Convention Centre.

Bren also completed a sweep of the preliminaries as it toppled Group C with a clean 3-0 win-loss record. With the Philippine bet's win, Burmese Ghouls will also advance to the playoffs as the Myanmar representative finished second with a 1-2 tally while Lilgun and Team Flash of Singapore have been eliminated.

It all boiled down to the final team clash in Game 1 where Marco "Super Marco '' Requitano (Wanwan) dropped a double kill, taking down Aizn and Zxaura, but he was eventually destroyed too by Bebex. Still, Bren had more than enough in its arsenal to finish the job to take a commanding 1-0 series lead.

Eight kills and two assists against no death from exp laner David "FlapTzy" Canon (Paquito) propelled him to the MVP honors.

Bren then needed to shrug off an improved Lilgun in Game 2, preventing a comeback attempt from the Mongolians as jungler Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson (Martis) secured the last lord en route to the victory.

Super Marco led the way with a perfect 2/0/2 KDA.

Bren, which ruled the MPL Philippines Season 12 in late October, will next face Cambodia's See You Soon in the playoffs.
