AP Bren kicks off M5 bid with sweep of Burmese Ghouls
Philippine bet AP Bren came out blazing right off the bat, making quick work of Myanmar's Burmese Ghouls, 2-0, to jumpstart its campaign in the M5 World Championship on Saturday at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.
The MPL Philippines Season 12 didn't even need the lord in the opening game as the quartet of Angelo Kyle "Pheww" Arcangel, Marco "Super Marco" Requitano, Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson, and Rowgien "Owgwen" Unigo pushed into the visitors' base at the 13:41-mark.
With only one player left, Burmese Ghouls could not defend as Bren cruised to a 1-0 lead.
Bren skipper and veteran mid laner Pheww's perfect KDA on his Novaria played a crucial role for the Filipinos as he unleashed three kills and six assists against no death.
KyleTzy (Nolan) then finished the job for them as the jungler piled up six kills in Game 2 alongside five assists, helping spoil an attempt from the Myanmar representative to force a decider.
The win allowed Bren to reassert its mastery over Burmese Ghouls, the same team that they defeated to rule the M2 World Championship back in early 2021 in Singapore.
Bren will have a three-day break before plunging back to the Land of Dawn on December 6 against Singapore's Team Flash on Wednesday, December 6, while Burmese Ghouls will look to bounce back against the same team on Sunday.
