Philippine skaters Sofia Frank and the duo of Isabella Gamez and Alexander Korovin, alongside Michael Martinez and Skye Chua, performed in the fundraiser of the Philippine Skating Union "Carols on Ice" on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia.

Frank won the gold medal in the Asian Open Figure Skating Championship last year, while the duo of Gamez and Korovin became the first Filipino and Southeast Asian pair to qualify for the World Championships which was held last March.

The skaters, with the theme of 'Music Through the Years' danced on ice to the songs from the 1950s to the present.

Skating coaches in the rinks at SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia also performed in the show, while the Philippine Hockey Team also lent their time as they celebrated their Ice Hockey Federation World Championship Division IV they won last March.

For the skaters, performing in front of the Filipino audience was such a delight.

"It's amazing. We didn't expect such a great introduction but it's always good to perform in front of the home crowd and really raise awareness for skating in the Philippines," Gamez said.

"It's amazing. I feel the love and support from everybody. I'm really excited to be here," echoed Frank.

This is the second edition of PHSU's 'Carols on Ice.'

"I'm hoping we are able to get the same amount as last year because it would be able to fund a couple of projects," PHSU president Nikki Cheng said, adding that last year they were able to raise close to half a million pesos.

Cheng said through last year's edition, they were able to hold seminars and camps with foreign experts and were able to support the accreditation of the country's first national judge.
