Kairi, Yeb lead Onic to third straight MPL Indonesia title
Filipino jungler Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol and coach Denver "Yeb" Miranda continued their overseas success, steering Onic Esports to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Indonesia Season 12 title.
The Sky Kings, who also ruled the MSC 2023 last June, fended off Geek Fam, 4-2, copped their third straight MPL championship to become the winningest franchise in the league's history, surpassing rival and powerhouse RRQ Hoshi.
Onic cruised to a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with gold laner Calvin "CW" Winata's Claude and roamer Nicky "Kiboy" Pontonuwu' Rafaela and Mathilda doing the damage in the first three games.
But Geek Fam, who was bannered by two other Filipino imports in Allen "Baloyskie" Baloy and Mark "Markyyyyy" Capacio, refused to be dealt a sweep loss by winning the next two games.
Onic, however, needed just 17 minutes to finish off what it started, winning a team fight at the Geek Fam's base en route to a 16-6 kill spread in Game 6.
Kiboy was eventually named MVP after unleashing three kills and three deaths using Hilda.
By advancing to the finals, both Onic and Geek Fam have qualified to the M5 World Championship set to be hosted by the Philippines this December.
