Asian Games 2023: Alex Eala, Nino Alcantara advance to mixed doubles semis

The duo of Alex Eala and Nino Alcantara advanced to the tennis mixed doubles semifinals after ousting Thailand's Luksika Kumkhum and Maximus Jones, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarterfinals of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on Thursday.

Eala, who just came off her three-hour women's single tennis semis match where she claimed bronze, joined Alcantara and defeated the Thais in a match that lasted for an hour and 19 minutes.

The win assured the Filipino pair of at least a bronze medal in the 2023 edition of the Asiad.

Eala and Alcantara will face Chinese Taipei's Liang En-shuo and Huang Tsung-hao in the semifinals.

Prior to the quarters, the pair of Eala and Alcantara won over Nepal's Sunira Thapa and Pranav Khanal in the second round, and India's Ankita Raina and Yuki Bhambri in the third round.
