Alex Eala opens maiden Asian Games campaign with shutout of Pakistani foe

Filipino tennis star Alex Eala kicked off her first-ever Asiad campaign with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory against Sarah Ibrahim Khan of Pakistan in Round 2 of the 19th Asian Games women's singles on Monday in Hangzhou, China.

The 18-year-old Filipina netter needed just 39 minutes to defeat Khan and move on to the third round where she will face Rutuja Bhosale of India, who earlier defeated Aruzhan Sagandykova of Kazakhstan.

Eala, the fourth seed in the continental tournament, had a total of five aces and only committed two double faults against Khan's three.

Eala also didn't need to play in the opening round as she earned a bye during the draw.
