Patrick King Perez claims first medal for Philippines in Hangzhou Asian Games


The Philippines claimed its first medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on Sunday.

Taekwondo jin Patrick King Perez claimed the bronze medal as he reached the semifinals of the men's individual poomsae event against Chinese Taipei's Ma Yun Zhong. However, he fell to the Chinese Taipei delegate as Perez scored 6.910 while Ma scored 7.450. 

Ma (7.480) finished with a silver medal as he fell to Korea's Kang Wanjin (7.730) in the finals. Vietnam's Tran Ho Duy also took a bronze medal.

During the 2018 Asian Games, the Philippines had four gold medals, two silver medals, and 15 bronze medals.
