Alex Eala rises to career-high No. 195 in WTA rankings

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala made a significant jump in her young career as she rose to no. 195 in the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings on August 28.

The 18-year-old netter jumped 22 places following two tournaments in Great Britain that saw her reach the finals.

Eala reigned supreme in the W25 Roehampton after defeating Australia’s Arina Rodionova with a 6-2, 6-3 victory last August 13 to clinch her fourth ITF title.

She then marched to the championship round of the W25 Aldershot also in Great Britain, but lost to Destanee Aiava of Australia, 3-6, 6-4, 1-6.

Eala’s continuous rise came just before she represents the Philippines in the Asian Games next month in China.
