Eduard Folayang returns to action in ONE Fight Night 14 with rematch vs. Amir Khan
Former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang is scheduled to figure in his first bout this year when he takes on familiar foe Amir Khan on the undercard of ONE Fight Night 14 on September 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Folayang, touted as the face of Philippine mixed martial arts, first met Khan inside the cage in November 2018 where he defeated the latter via unanimous decision to claim the then vacant ONE lightweight world title.
"I can't even begin to describe the level of excitement that's coursing through me as I look forward to the rematch against Amir Khan on September 30th," Folayang stated.
"This fight represents so much more than just a battle in the circle; it's a shot at redemption, a golden opportunity to rewrite my story, and a chance to open a new, exhilarating chapter in my career."
Folayang, 22-13 as a professional mixed martial artist, is on a five-fight losing skid. He last saw action last December against Edson Marques where he lost via technical knockout in round two.
According to Folayang, it was from such setbacks that he found the motivation to keep fighting.
"The road to this moment has been grueling, but it's in this adversity that I've found the strength to push forward. I'm ready to showcase the culmination of my hard work, to seize this chance to prove that setbacks are just setups for comebacks," he said.
