Stephen Loman opens up about Andrade vs. Haggerty

ONE bantamweight contender Stephen Loman of Team Lakay opened up after finding out that he is not getting a world title fight yet with ONE bantamweight world champion Fabricio Andrade.

ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong on Wednesday announced that Andrade is going to face ONE bantamweight kickboxing champion Jonathan Haggerty on October 6.

According to Loman, who has not fought for almost a year, he expected to fight Andrade next.

“I was expecting to fight Andrade, that I am going to be the next one, but it is what it is though I expected that it is going to be me. This gives me time to sharpen my skills and review Andrade's special moves,” Loman said in Filipino in an exclusive interview on Sparring Sessions.

“It is okay for me because I saw in an interview that Andrade wants to fight in kickboxing or Muay Thai. To me, let us just watch the fight between the best strikers. Let us just wait when they are going to set our fight.”

Loman saw action in November 2022 where he dominated former world champion Bibiano Fernandes en route to a unanimous decision. Instead of getting frustrated, the Filipino says he will take the fight between Andrade and Haggerty as an opportunity to study some more.

“This is a good fight and I will learn some lessons here. Let us see who wins the fight,” Loman quipped.
