Carlos Yulo 'just getting started' after five-medal haul in Asian Gymnastics Championships
For Carlos Yulo, winning five medals and qualifying for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships is just the start of his journey to the top.
Yulo said this in an Instagram post on Tuesday, days after the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships where he won three gold medals, a silver medal, and a bronze medal.
"Another successful competition — qualified for the world championships and we're just getting started," Yulo wrote in his post. "Still lots of room for improvement, just taking it one step at a time."
Yulo then thanked those who supported him in his journey.
"There were many challenges prior and during the competition but I managed to get back on track and perform in my best condition! So thankful for all the people who genuinely supported me — you know who you all are. And thank you so much to GOD for always keeping me safe and well, this is all for you."
The Filipino Olympian won gold medals in floor exercise, vault, and parallel bars, a silver in the individual all-around, and a bronze in the high bars finals.
Emma Malabuyo, silver medalist in the floor exercise of the Asian tiff, said she is happy to be back on stage.
Aside from Yulo and Malabuyo, Aleah Finnegan also won two bronze medals in the women's vault and beam finals.
Finnegan and Kylee Kvamme, along with Yulo, also clinched slots in the World Championships which will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
