Fencing bet Sam Catantan suffers injury to settle for SEA Games silver
Filipino fencing bet Sam Catantan caught a bad break on Friday as she suffered an injury in her bid to defend the gold medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
Catantan was leading 14-5 against Singaporean bet Kemei Cheung in Bout 2 of the women's foil semifinals but suffered an injury which led to her being stretchered off the venue.

Catantan eventually finished the game after she was attended to by medics to punch a ticket to the gold medal match.
However, her supposed rematch in the finals against Singaporean Maxine Wong was declared as default, which led to Catantan settling for the silver medal. Wong was the same fencer that Catantan defeated in Hanoi for the gold medal.

Catantan's silver, however, was the first silver medal of the day for Team Philippines following Agatha Wong's gold and Ronald Oranza of cycling's silver medal.
