Sepak takraw, pencak silat, cricket add to PHL's medal haul in Cambodia SEAG
Aside from the Philippines' medals in soft tennis on Wednesday, other sports added more medals to the country's haul in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday.
Soft tennis' Joseph Arcilla and Noelle Zoleta claimed gold and silver medals, respectively, to cap the country's 5-medal campaign in the said sport.
Sepak takraw's Jason Huerte, Ronsited Gabayeron, John Bobier, Joshua Bullo, Vince Torno, Rheyjey Ortouste claimed the silver in men's hoop takraw, while the team of Abegail Sinogbuhan, Allyssa Bundoy, Deseree Autor, Jean Marie Sucalit, Kristine Lapsit, and Mary Ann Lopez also got silver from women's hoop takraw.
The Philippine cricket team fell to Indonesia in the finals of the women's 6A side event to get the silver medal. The team is composed of Jennifer Alumbro, Alex Smith, Kate Andreano, Romela Osabel, Riza Penalba, April Rose Saquilon, Catherine Bagaoisan, Shanilyn Asis, Ma. Luz Mandia, Josie Arimas, Simranjeet Sirah, Johannah Mccall, Lolita Olagiuer, Jonna Eguid, and Joelle Galapin.
Pencak Silat's Dines Dumaan also claimed a silver medal as he fell to Indonesia's Khoirudin Mustakim in the men's tanding 45kg--50kg class event.
The country also had bronze medals from John Tolentino (men's 100m hurdles), Natalie Uy (women's pole vault) and the Valorant team of Nathaniel Cabero, Brheyanne Reyes, Jose Eduardo Jamir, Mark Anthony Tuling, Xavier Juan, and George Lachica.
Swimmers Jarod Hatch (men's 50m butterfly) and the team of Teia Salvino, Chloe Isleta, Jasmin Alkhaldi, and Xiandi Chua (women's 4x200m freestyle) got bronze medals as well.
As of writing, the country ranks fifth in the medal tally with 26 gold medals.
