Jerard Jacinto gets another medal in aquatics, Teia Salvino breaks national record for bronze in backstroke


Filipino swimmer Jerard Jacinto added another feather in his cap as he claimed a silver medal in the men’s 50m backstroke event on Sunday in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

Jacinto clocked 25.56 seconds to place second behind Indonesia's I Gede Siman Sudartawa who registered 25.16 seconds. Singapore's Zheng Wen Quah logged 25.61 to place third.

 

 

 

 

Jacinto on Saturday got a bronze in men's 100m backstroke.

Meanwhile, Teia Salvino claimed the bronze medal in women’s 50m backstroke after clocking in 28.99 seconds. She broke the previous national record of Jessica Geriane, which is 29.35 set in the Hanoi Games last year.

 

 

 

 

In combat sports, silver medals were won by Ivan Agustin (men's -84kg kumite), Alfau Abad and Almohaidib Abad (pencak silat men's artistic ganda double), and Emmanuel Cantores (men's 60kg vovinam).

The Philippines also claimed bronze medals from Edmhel Flores, Shagne Yaoyao, Jerico Rivera, and Ariana Dormitorio (cycling mixed mountain bike cross-country relay), Jan Vincent Cortez (men's ne-waza nogi -56kg), Christopher Gallego and Estie Linawen (jiu-jitsu men's duo), Floryvic Montero (kun khmer women's 48 kg), Jenelyn Olsim (kun khmer women's 54 kg), and Franchette Elman, Shaira Jizmundo, Jessapitulan Dela Crus (pencak silat women's artistic regu team).

As of writing, the Philippines ranks fifth in the medal tally with 13 golds, 19 silvers, and 22 bronze medals.
